SOLD Victorian Walnut Heavily Carved Half Commode Night Stand
We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful exceptionally heavily carved rosewood and walnut half size commode that dates from the later 1880s era. It is a fantastic example of Victoriana. It is a bench made example with a square top and molded edges with cut corners 45 degrees. It has a center drawer that is all ribbon carved and beautiful carving across the face of the front and other sections. It has a beautiful hand cut wooden drawer with the original wooden knobs and back draw carving. It has a carved panel door in the base, 45 degree angle heavily carved on both and a wonderful shapely applied bracket foot base with carving. There is a section of carving missing on the door that we can make so that it looks better if the buyer would like us to detail out at no charge. The top has a wooden crack that can be seen in the pictures. It is in pretty nice condition for being 140 years old. The overall size is 23 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 31 inches high. It is a fine example of a half commode, which was probably a piece out of a fancy rococo bedroom set. I am sure it is from a fancy maker, but I do not see any maker marks on it.
