We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful walnut and burl walnut flip top game table that dates from the 1880s. We brought this into the shop to sand it down, fix the veneer, re-stain the entire card table, replaced the felt top and sprayed multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer. The great thing about a game table, especially a heavily carved one like this is that it can be used as a demi lune table or flip the top up and put it against the wall for a backdrop for a leaded lamp or flip it around put the top down and it becomes a game table or a small dinette table. When you flip it around, it reveal a small compartment for your game pieces which we have replaced the bottom and it is all stained to match. The overall size is 35 inches across, 18 inches deep and 29.5 inches high. When the top is flipped open it is approximately 36 inches by 35 inches. It has a wide ogee bevel edge on the shapely top, serpentine skirt, carving on the skirt in solid walnut and the vase type pedestal is mind boggling with a large cylinder column, fluted pedestal base, reverse finial, eight sided carved crown and four heavily carved legs retaining the castor wheels.
