SOLD Burl Walnut Heavily Carved Center Table

We are pleased to be offering today one of the most beautiful and unique Victorian burl walnut, burl cherry, incise carved, stick and ball, ball and claw, beaded molding, trim corbels and everything you can think of.  This was definitely made in someone’s Victorian woodworking shop that had some interesting wood kicking around.  This was definitely custom made.  I am guessing it dates from the 1870s to 1880s.  It was in a home right here in Fairfield, Maine for the last 50 years that I know of.  When it came to us it had a split in the burl cherry top, so we repaired it, re-glued it and re-sprayed the top.  We also replaced three of the little stick and ball finials that are on the bottom shelf section as the owner’s dog had chewed them!  This is not the first time we have had to replace woodwork from a dog as those puppies can be chewers!  This stand has it all.  I can see it gracing your hallway, entryway or living room.  The overall size is approximately 29 inches around, 32 inches to the very top of the burl cherry carved center and 12 inches high to the bottom shelf.  It is approximately 24 inches around on the base.  This has burl walnut, burl cherry, incise carving, dentil carved around the edge of an ogee bevel, bevel edge on the cherry section, multi-turn leg, beaded skirt on the base with top and bottom stick and ball galleries and ends in a fancy turn leg with a ball and claw talon foot with a wooden ball.  This is usually a good sign of a Hunzinger or Merklen, but there are no markings.  Shipping starts at $285 crated if you are in our normal area and will increase in costs if not.
