SOLD Victorian Burl Walnut Marble Top Half Commode Night Stand
We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful Victorian solid black walnut with burl walnut panel trim and heavy crown molded marble top half commode or bedside night stand. This is part of a bedroom set initially, but we always sell them as half commodes as that is what they are. They would retain the pot from a chamber set behind the door and you had to draw it right next to the bed. This one has 45 degree angle corners and dates from the 1870s. It has been refinished by the previously owner. It has a wide ogee bevel edge 45 degree angle white marble top. The marble has been aged over the years and it does have some stains as you can see in the photos. Sometimes people will sand them down and buff them out with buffing compound, but we leave them as they are. The base is all burl walnut accent trims on the door, hand cut dove tail drawer and the 45 degree angle corners. It has the raised centers and is finished off with a molded applied bracket base. The overall size is 18 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 31 inches high. It is a great little half commode. Shipping starts at $95 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England.
