SOLD Set of 8 French Carved Victorian Dining Chairs with Leather Seats
We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful unusual French Victorian carved dining chairs in the rococo style that are constructed of oak or chestnut. They are very unusual. At first I thought they were rosewood because the grain was so pronounced. Upon arrival I realized that they were either chestnut or wide grain oak. I have never seen a set made out of this kind of wood before. The seats are all in good condition with ox blood leather. The seats are all original dating from the 1880s. They have a hand carved crest with flowers and petals on top, swoops along the balloon shape back, floral carving on the center splat, floral carving on the front skirt and they are fantastic. The overall size is 18 inches wide, 18 inches deep, 39 inches high to the top of the chest and 19 inches high to the seat. They are in wonderful original condition with a dark oak stain finish that shows minor wear marks from normal use.
