SOLD Empire Civil War Era Game Table Carved Base
We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful empire flame mahogany carved shapely game table made back in the civil war era of the 1850s,. It has a scroll curl foot base, applied carving, cut out harp style vase post that goes into a multi molded platform and the top is shapely and cutout. The overall size is 34.5 inches wide by 17.5 deep by 30.25 inches high. When the table is opened it becomes approximately 34 inches square. The great thing about card tables is that it is three pieces of furniture in one. The first piece is a wall piece where you just put it against the wall to hold a vase or a statue. The second piece is where you flip the top up and lean it against the wall to create a lovely backdrop for an accent piece such as a trophy or Tiffany lamp. The third piece is when you flip the top up and spin it around to expose a storage compartment where you place a deck of cards, poker chips, etc to create a game table or a dining room table for four people. No matter how you choose to use it, it is a wonderful piece. The finish is all original, but it needs a good quality oil and it has some finish loss. if you are interested in having it refinished, please let us know as we can quote you a price to have it done in our professional restoration shop. Due to the large volume of this estate, we did pictures on site and did not polish them as we normally do. So, take advantage of the pricing as these items are priced accordingly.
