We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful high quality solid mahogany original finish carved throne chair or oversize arm chair that dates from the 1880s to 1890s. What a great look. It isn’t marked anywhere but it looks like a Berkey and Gay quality. The carving on the back is gorgeous. The cane is perfect, which would lead me to believe it isn’t original. It is all solid wood construction with no veneer. It is quality from the top finial to the carved curved knuckle foot. It has an insignia on the crest and on the cross member below the seat that looks like the Boy Scout insignia. It is high quality and heavy. The overall size is 24 inches wide across the arms, 19.5 inches on the inside of the arms, 22.5 inches wide on the seat in the front, 17.5 inches wide on the back of the seat, 19 inches deep on the seat, 23 inches deep on the entire chair, almost 49 inches to the top of the crest, 29 inches high on the arms and 18.5 inches high on the seat. It is a high class furniture company that made this. This came out of a home in Bangor, Maine. It is in original condition in the dark reddish brown finish with minor nicks and dings.
