SOLD Antique Period Empire Game Table with Heart Design
A most unusual piece, this is a period empire game table that dates from the 1850s or ‘60s. The best thing about a game table is that it is three pieces of furniture all in one: You can leave it closed and push it against a wall as a wall table, you can flip up the top as a backdrop and display a vase, or you can flip up the top, spin it around and use it as a game table. It can also be used as a small dining table. It has a beautiful reddish-brown patina to it. We did re-spray the top to reveal the gorgeous grains used, and the flame mahogany on the front is awesome, with just a tiny little chip on the top of the center post. Check out the French feet on it, that come down into an ogee molded base with French applied bracket feet, and a scrolled skirt. Right in the center of the double column empire post is the design of a heart. It measures 36 inches wide, 19 inches deep, and 31 inches high.
