We are pleased to be offering today this period Empire true style sleigh bed that dates from the Civil War Era. Dating from the 1860’s, it is in original condition and the finish stills holds up. There is a split in the footboard, which is no big deal. We can detail it out if the buyer so desires. The side rails have a few little chips, which is normal for this age. Normally these are not full size, but this one will take a modern-day full-size mattress and box spring. The inside dimensions are 54 inches by 75 inches. The outside dimensions are 58 inches wide and 41 inches high to the headboard and footboard. A true sleigh bed, the side view shows the traditional shape of Santa’s sleigh. It is finished in the old reddish brown stain finish which is typical of the Empire era. This bed came out of the Philadelphia Pennsylvania area. We had to use some old bolts as the original bolts were missing. The bed pulls together tight. It is in great condition for being 160 years old. Shipping starts at $345 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area. Outside the normal area will incur additional delivery charges, which could add on especially if you're on the West Coast.
