SOLD Antique Armchair, Antique Victorian Gentleman’s Finger Carved Open Arm Chair
We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful oversize gentleman’s carved open arm chair that dates from the Civil War era of the 1870’s. It is a great looking chair that has been reupholstered by someone that knew what they were doing as it is all buttoned and pleated back, upholstered arms, seat and the colored gimp sets off the antique light green upholstery color against the original solid black walnut carved frame. The chair is a bit larger than usual, being 27.5 inches wide, 26 inches deep, 42 inches high to the back, 23 inches high to the arm and 18 inches high to the seat. This chair is a bit oversize so a larger man can enjoy sitting in it. The wooden frame is all nice and tight. The patina is nice. It has carved knuckles up top with berries, carved knuckles on the open arms, curved front solid frame construction with cabriole carved legs and the chair retains the original castors.
