We are pleased to be offering this wonderful solid black walnut Victorian Civil war era felt top library table/writing desk to you today. Dating from the 1860s - 1870s era, this desk features beautiful workmanship. It has a picture-frame molded hand cut dove tail drawer with hand carved leaf escutcheon in the center. The frame is solid black walnut with a solid black walnut multi-turn spindle cross stretcher with acanthus carved finial top, and curved skirts on the ends. The top has a walnut border face around a felt lined writing surface. We have replaced the original worn period green felt with new felt of the same color. The table itself is 41 inches wide, 27 inches deep and 29 inches high. The inside area (where your legs would sit) is 25 inches wide by 24 inches high. The table appears to be original finish and maintains a gorgeous patina. This table has minor nicks and dings; it is a prime example of Victorian furniture at its finest.
