We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful Victorian age slant top secretary desk that dates from the 1880s in restored condition. We have brought it into the shop, tightened it up, made sure the joints are all good, left the original old patina, sanded it down, re-stained it on top of the old finish and sprayed in a satin sheen lacquer for a mellow look. It left the character marks here and there to show the age with the warm patina. This desk was build right around the 1880s as it has a round dove tail. It has an ogee bevel edge baseboard bottom, three raised panel carved drawers, a writing lid that when open reveals a cubby hole interior and above is double glass door that retains the original glass and two adjustable shelves. There are burl panels and Eastlake carving for added beauty. The overall size is 39 inches wide, 20, inches deep, 31 inches to the writing lid and 82 inches high overall. It comes with the original key. The lock appears to work, but we never guarantee them as they can be finicky. The bookcase section has shelves that are 33 inches wide, 9.5 inches deep and 29 inches high for the adjustable shelves. The dark walnut stain is ready for years of carefree use.
