We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful solid oak unusual swing side tambour S shape roll top desk that dates from the 1890s in pretty much all good original condition. It came out of a home in Bangor, Maine. He said he bought it locally years ago, but he is downsizing now. We were fortunate enough to purchase it. It is a nice desk with two double columns with drawers. The left hand side are four drawers with a pull out writing surface. The right hand side has two normal drawers and a file cabinet drawers plus the pull out writing surface. The S roll is in good shape. The sides are unusual as they swing out. They only did this to maybe 1 out of every 100 desks, so it is hard to find, but very useful when working! It is paneled all the way around. It is in the original dark oak stain finish with the exception of the writing surface. When the desk came in, the writing surface was stained and we sanded it down and re-colored it for use. When you open the tambour roll, it exposes a multi-cubby hole interior with a double drawer and pencil trays that pull out. The desk is 56 inches wide, 32 inches deep, 48 inches high overall and 18 inches high on the S roll. It has the lock, but it doesn’t have a key. Reproduction keys can often be found online if the buyer so desires to purchase one. The desk is all set to go into the home with just a little polish. Shipping starts at $365 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England. Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
