SOLD Antique Victorian Oak Roll Top Desk by Cutler

We are pleased to be offering today this 100% genuine antique oak raised panel roll top desk made by the Cutler Desk Company out of Buffalo,New York back in the 1890s to 1900s.  This desk has been all taken apart, stripped, hand sanded, re-glued, stained a medium oak color and multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer has been applied.  The roll has been re-canvassed and re-glued.  Even the hardware has been buffed up.  This desk is all ready to go for another century of carefree use.  We do not have the original key for the desk, but the lock mechanism is in place and has been disabled so that you can close the roll.  The tambour roll is very unique, where it is not only held together with canvas, but has backings with screws and finish nails in them.  While that is unusual, it is not for the Cutler Company as they were always ahead of the times.  Look at the full drawer interior!  Every drawer is raised paneled and stunning with the selection of tiger sawn oak.  The writing surface and the pull out slides above the banker drawers are all tiger sawn oak.  The desk has a couple of logo that says Cutler Desk Company from Buffalo, New York on a couple of the inside drawers.  Mike, our wonderful and talented cabinetmaker, has gone right through the desk.  One of the drawers were damaged and he completely made a new face and at the same time he made a new drawer.  He is so skilled, that I had to study which drawer it was because I could not tell by just looking at the desk.  At the same time he also fabricated the modesty panel on the back because of damage on that as well.  The overall size of this beautiful desk is 50 inches wide, 35 inches deep, 31 inches high to the writing surface, 20 inch high on the “S” top, and 51 inches high overall.  The desk has the little side slats for storing mail.  It even has the slots in the sides to pass the mail when the roll is closed down.  The pedestal drawers on both sides have three raised panel drawers and the bottom drawer on each side is 9.25 inches high which is a double drawer designed for files.  Now with the lap top craze, these desks are becoming popular again.  The space in the middle is 16 inches wide and 9 inches high, which is great for a laptop when not in use.  The space for your legs is 19 inches wide by 26 inches high.  It is a beautiful tiger sawn raised panel desk that has been restored and refinished.  The cost for the professional restore and refinish alone would be $1600 if you were to have this quality of work done to it.  Do not confuse this desk with other desks that are as is.  This one has been professionally all redone and it is all set to go into the home.  The minor little nicks and dings have been left in for character.  Please check our other listings as we are always restoring great items.  Shipping will start at $399 for this desk if you are in our normal shipping area.  Please contact us prior to purchase to confirm that you are in our normal area.
