We are pleased to be offering today this Victorian cameo back finger carved sofa dating from the 1870’s era. It came out of a museum collection in western Massachusetts. We bought some amazing things from the deaccession of items from the museum and this Victorian sofa was one of them. It appears to have the original black fabric on the back that is all buttoned and pleated and does not look bad but it is old for sure. Someone redid the seat in a velour type fabric that looks nice against the silk background. The frame is all solid black walnut and doesn’t appear to have any breaks, which is unusual given the age. It has an extra large medallion/cameo back with the flowing solid black walnut outside frame that incorporated form the swooping backs into a cabriole carved front leg. It is in very usable condition. The overall size is 64 inches wide outside, 46 inches wide between the arms, 28 inches deep from the front to the back, 20 inches deep on the seat, 37 inches high to the top of the center, 32 inches high to the top of the sides, 16 inches high to the seat. It is a great civil war sofa that we are pleased to have acquired. Shipping starts at $345 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England.
