SOLD Victorian Carved Barley Twist Fireplace Mantle with Bevel Mirror
We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful heavily carved barley twist fireplace mantle that came out of a home in central Maine that dates from the 1880s to 1890s. It has quite a few bragging rights on it. It has egg and dart molding, flower embossed perforated molding, carved molding around the fireplace surround and rare barley twist posts. It is quite unique. It is in the original finish. It has the original bevel glass mirror that has spots from wear from age. The mantle is stained a medium walnut color and has aged to a lovely patina. Some people I know would use this for a headboard for their bed. The overall size of the mantle is 66 inches wide, 8 inches on the top crown, 9 inches on the shelf below the mirror and the overall height is 84 inches. The size of the bevel glass mirror is 27 inches wide by 17 inches tall. The opening is approximately 42 inches wide by 37 inches high. Many people use ceramic tile to make the surrounds fit their fireplace exactly. It is a really nice looking unit. It appears to be poplar underneath the stain. It is in good condition. The only thing I can see is a few spots where molding is missing, but you really have to study it to look at it. There are a couple of stains on the mantle shelf that are noticeable, but nothing drastic. Shipping starts at $365 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England. Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
