We are pleased to be offering today this set of 6 solid seat elm and maple dining chairs that date from the 1890s in beautiful original condition.  A lot of people would call these oak pressback chairs, but being in the business for a lot of years we can identify almost all the woodwork.  These are most likely an elm seat and back with maple turners, which is usually the sturdiest chair there is.  These have the hip rests, multi-turn spindles, multi-turn front legs, cross spindle stretchers and are a nice set of chairs.  These came out of a home in Maine.  When you study the chairs real close, you will see a slight difference with a turning on the top part of the leg and on the very bottom.  These chairs have been together since the beginning.  They put out tons of chairs like this and often the legs were turned by different people and slight differences happened.  They are all in nice shape being tight and sturdy.  The chairs are 16 inches wide, 16 inches deep, 39 inches high to the back and 17.5 inches high to the seat.  The finish is nice showing minor wear on the seats. You are getting all six for one money.  Shipping estimates starts at $245.00-$275.00 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England. We can assist you in setting up shipping if needed, you would pay the shipping company direct.  Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
