We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful set of four solid oak Victorian age barley twist and posted and cross stretcher oak carved chairs that dates from the 1880s in beautiful and unbelievable condition. I have looked and looked as usually these chairs have a lot of damage, but all I can find is one loose joint which we will correct prior to shipping and one tiny area that is missing three berries on the chair (it took me three times to find it!). They are so delicate and fancy with a solid oak barley twist post and carved corner blocks on the legs and back post. They have a wonderful open pierce carved crest with a center medallion. Carved fretwork that is all open pierce carved along both sides of the oval design back. Even the bottom of the backs have reverse pierce carved crest that are in nice condition. The posts and cross stretchers in the base are even barley twist. Someone put a nice fabric on them years ago that shows an early scene of husband and wife in the George Washington era with a farm scene in the back with a dog in the front. It looks nice against the dark oak stain finish. The fabric is in an antique red with beige highlights. There are a couple of small dirt stains that I believe would wash out. The overall size is 19 inches wide, 18 inches deep, 45 inches high to the top of the carved crest and 20 inches high to the seat. It is a wonderful set of four in great condition. You are getting all four chairs for one money. Shipping starts at $285 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England. Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
