We are pleased to be offering today this period new England style two piece chest on chest flat top Chippendale highboy in cherry that dates from the early 1800s.  Most likely a marriage, which means that the top and the base were not made at the same time or at the same shop. They combined the two, which was normal in the early 1900s.  The base and the top are both period early 1800s if not late 1700s.  They are definitely of different origin.  They both have pine secondary wood.  We believe the top case and the bottom case were fitted together in the early 1900s.  It is a very pleasing effect and the cost of real period one is much higher that is worth thousands and thousands.  The overall size is 37 inches wide, 19 inches deep and 70 inches high.  The overall condition is good.  The waist molding (ties the top into the base) was replaced back in the early 1900s.  The hardware was also replaced with brasses of early design.  Minor repairs to the drawer edges and lips, which is normal.  It has been professionally re-polished and colored to match.  It is ready to go into the home.  The base has one long drawer with two deep drawers and a fan carved center drawer with deep scallop apron raised on cabriole legs with scroll knees continuing to pad feet. Overall you are getting nice period looking chest that went to church and got married.  This is a great look.  Shipping starts at $295 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England.  Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
