We are pleased to be offering this outstanding example of beautiful Victorian oak in this gorgeous extra tall, carved solid tiger sawn oak claw foot chair or throne to you today. Dating from the 1880's in beautiful condition, this came right out of a home on the cape of Massachusetts. We bought a pool table and a dining room set out of the same home; this chair has gothic-carved serpentine heads right on the very top crest, dainty final tops on each carved multi-turn post, and pierce carving going down the medallion-shaped back. The base of the chair has carving across the front of the claw foot legs and look at the stout, sturdy and stylish cross stretchers of tiger sawn oak that join the legs together. The upholstery is gorgeous. It was done a long time ago and it is in wonderful shape. It is a raised floral fabric with multi-colors, and a wonderful match to the patina of the chair frame. The overall size is 20 inches wide, 19 inches deep, 48 inches high to the chair back and 19 inches high to the seat. The chair has many uses. It would make a fantastic desk chair, in front of a bedroom set to put your clothes on at night or as an accent chair in any space. The overall condition is really nice.
