SOLD Nightstand, Victorian Marble Top Half Commode

This wonderful Antique nightstand dates from the Victorian era and features burl walnut panels and a white and gray grained ogee bevel edge round corner marble top. This antique nightstand or half commode is from the 1870s to 1880s, and is in original condition. Underneath where the marble goes there was a piece of walnut that we replaced, but it’s underneath the marble - you can’t tell, and we’re only telling you because we like to be upfront. The back corners have small chips on the corners from hitting against a chair rail or something. There is a single knob in the center of the drawer, which is not original.  There is racetrack molding on the drawer and door, and the original escutcheon remains on the door. This Antique night stand is in a dark finish, and would look beautiful refinished to bring out the warm amber color of the wood. Some people prefer the original dark finish, so we leave it alone.  If you are interested in having it refinished, please contact us for a quote.  The overall size is 18 inches wide, 17.5 inches deep and 30.5 inches high.  The top drawer is hand cut dove tail.  The door doesn’t have a key but opens to reveal a single shelf interior.  These are getting tough to find and usually don’t last for more than a week on our sites.
