This is a beautiful Victorian solid black walnut swivel and tilting lawyer’s or banking chair that dates from the 1880s. Someone has had this chair completely refinished years ago, and the finish is still outstanding, showing only minor nicks and dings. The seat is simulated chocolate brown leather, and in the back, it is entirely lace caned. The back is curved, with a notch molding on top, grooved lines coming down the posts, carved rosettes on the outside of the back legs, down into an incise carved four-legged base, which holds the threaded rod that adjusts the seat up or down. The overall size is 23 inches across the arms, 18 inches between the arms, 19 inches deep on the seat, 36 inches high as it is set now, 24 inches to the arm, and 16 inches to the seat. It will adjust up and down. Walnut Victorian office chairs are very hard to find these days. This one is in really, really nice original condition, right down to the brass casters, and came out of a local doctor’s home.
