This antique office chair is one of the hardest to find items out there in the antique world - this extra tall swivel and tilt lawyers office chair is in Victorian Walnut! Dating from the 1880s, this chair is in unbelievable condition. I was lucky enough to find this Victorian walnut office chair, and a Victorian oak office chair in the same month - we’re lucky if we get these through here every 10 years, so yes, we are excited! I believe the upholstery is original. It looks like it’s leather, though it’s pretty dried out. The back actually has a rip in it, as you can see in the photos. It has all the original tacks, the finish is the great original finish - the seat is missing the original gimp, which is an easy fix, but the seat actually has an old fabric that looks like it would be completely usable after a nice shampoo. Just keep in mind, this chair completely restored, with new leather, would be one of the best Victorian office chairs you’ll ever see on the East Coast.
Everything works on this. There are no casters and it measures 24 inches wide across the seat, front to back is 20 inches deep, height to the seat is 21 inches high, height to the arm as it sits is 29 inches high, an to the back of the chair as it sits right now is 46 inches high - but keep in mind that this is on a threaded, adjustable rod that allows you to adjust the chair another 2-3 inches if you want. This is pretty much as nice an original as you can get. There is a little bit of glue in the joints of one of the arms where you can see they tried to plug it. No big deal, but we like to mention it.
