SOLD Antique Victorian Rosewood Marble Top Half Commode
We are pleased to be offering today this hard-to-find Victorian marble top half commode, but in rosewood. It isn’t easy to find as they are usually walnut. This is a nice marble top Victorian or Renaissance half commode in rosewood dating from the 1880's. It comes with a pink quartz cookie corner marble with a wide ogee bevel edge, hand cut dove tails, raised panel on the door and drawer, teacup knob on the door is intact, panel molded rosewood sides and a circular footed base. There are carved elbows on all four posts and rosette carvings under the posts. I do not know why, but the two blocks on the back fell off at one time and we have replaced the triangle piece on the back. It would never be noticed if placed against the wall, but we wanted to let you know. It appears to be in the original finish. The marble is all nice. The half commode is 21 inches wide across the cookie corners, 20 inches wide across the rest of the marble, 21 inches deep and 31 inches high. This is quite an item with the rosewood and pink quartz top. When the door is opened, it reveals an open storage area where a shelf would have been at one time but many people removed them. Shipping starts at $185 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area. Outside the normal area will incur additional delivery charges, which could add on especially if you're on the West Coast.
