SOLD Antique Victorian Rococo Carved Sofa

This antique sofa dates from the 1880s, and is in the Victorian Rococo style. Featuring solid black walnut construction, this sofa is so absolutely stunning! It retains its original finish, and even what appears to be its original fabric and gimp details. The stunning red velvet style fabric looks just utterly fantastic against the black walnut frame, and is in great condition.

The shapely tri-back with cameo center is topped on each section by a pierced hand-carved crest. These are very beautifully detailed with flowers, leaves, and berries. Take a look at the photos, they will do it better justice than I can. The detailed arms, shapely back, and Cabriol legs all just flow nicely creating a delicate and sturdy piece. This is one of our favorite eras of furniture here at Maine Antique Furniture; the Victorian Rococo period is just so aesthetically pleasing; we love selling anything from this era. This particular sofa is in excellent condition, and is super tight, with only very minor nicks and dings that come with age.

This antique sofa is in beautiful condition with original finish and what appears to be the original fabric. It measures 65 inches at the widest point, 40 inches deep, and 45 inches at the tallest back, and the center back measures 34 inches high. The seat is 16 inches from the floor and the arms measure 22 inches from the floor. This antique sofa is an absolutely stunning example, and we are pleased to be offering it to you today.
