SOLD Antique Victorian Oak Raised Panel Chippendale Desk
We are pleased to be offering today what I believe to be a bench made custom solid tiger sawn oak Chippendale raised panel all the way around cabriole leg flat top desk that dates from the 1890's. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.
The overall size is 48 inches wide, 30 inches deep and 30.5 inches high to the writing surface. The space for your legs is 19 inches wide and 23 inches wide. This is a great high-quality desk that I may need to have in my office as this custom piece is simply outstanding.
