We are pleased to be offering today this rare chestnut and walnut Victorian cookie corner marble top half commode dating from the 1880's. It is very unusual to find one in this wood. They are usually bird’s eye maple, walnut, oak or mahogany. This commode is in nice condition. The only thing I can see wrong with it is that the door was left open to far and it cracked around the hinges. It can be fixed easily as it is nothing structural, just cosmetic. It has a hand cut dove tail drawer with hand carved handle and racetrack molding. It has a tombstone center panel door with hand carved nuts and berries in the center. It has a cookie corner marble top and carved walnut accent trims on both sides. The commode terminates in a teacup style foot. The bottom door has a plywood shelf behind. There is molding all the way around. The overall size is 17.5 inches square by 28 inches high. There is no key or lock. The finish is all original. Other than the crack around the top hinge of the door, it is all original. We have a matching dresser that we purchased out of the same estate. Please check to see if the matching dresser is still available. Shipping starts at $165 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area. Outside the normal area will incur additional delivery charges, which could add on especially if you're on the West Coast.
