We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful civil war era drop center
marble top chest that dates from the 1860s era right out of a Connecticut
estate. It features three ogee bevel edge white and gray grain marble with
the condition being overall good. There is a small chip in the front that
we will touch up prior to shipping. The rest of the chest is just how you
see it. It has the original finish, but it has been used over the years.
It has race track molding with an unusual carved detail handle on all eight
carved pulls. It has carved molding, panels sides, stains in the base and I
am pretty sure it could be sanded down if it was refinished as the entire
piece is all solid black walnut with the exception of a couple of burl
walnut panels. The candle shelves have been replaced, which is normal as
they easily get damaged. Other than that it is all original. The overall
size is 50 inches wide, 19 inches deep, 25.5 inches high to the drop center
marble, 37 inches high to the top side marble and 86 inches high overall.
The size of the looking glass is 19 inches wide by 44 inches high. The
looking glass a lot of wear on the old silver on the back which I think adds
lots of charm and character. The looking glass could be replaced for
approximately $50-60 if desired. The rest of the dresser is in the original
finish right from the carved crest, burl walnut panel accents, carved pulls,
candle shelves and race track molding. Shipping starts at $369 for a
driveway delivery in our normal area. If you are on the west coast or need
a white glove delivery additional shipping would apply. So please contact
us to discuss your particular shipping needs.
