This is a solid black walnut Victorian Civil War era arm chair that dates from the 1860s. The most unusual thing about this chair is the size of the medallion back, and the basket crest on the back. It has a carved basket that holds nuts, berries, flowers, as well as vines, leaves, and flowers carved across. The chair itself is all tight and sturdy, and has a beautiful carved serpentine front with carved flowers on the cabriole legs, super carved arm supports, and the medallion back. The fabric is an antique beige that looks original and shows some wear, but you can actually use it for a while if you’re careful. If this chair is just for looks, it will probably last forever. The overall size is 22 inches across, 22 inches deep, 44 inches high to the crest, 21 inches high to the arm, and 17.5 inches high to the seat. We are offering the match to this chair, stock number 16515, if it is still available.
