SOLD Antique Set of 12 Unbelievable Carved Lion Dining Chairs – R.J. Horner

We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful set of 12 heavily carved faces fluted legs dining chairs that dates from the 1890s. They are in the original finish and have black leather upholstery. Eight to possibly eleven chairs should be reupholstered on the seats of the leather (see pictures) andthe black dust fabric on the bottom, while the others are in usable condition. I personally would recover the set as a whole. The leather backs on the chairs are in good usable condition. I have looked the chairs all over and do not see any Horner labels. However, it came out of the same home as the table which is marked R.J. Horner and the family said it was all Horner which I believe based on the quality of this set and my over 50 years in the business. The consists of two master chairs/armchairs and 10 side chairs. The chairs all have open face lions on the top finial, applied north wind faces underneath the lion heads, carved back flared legs, open mouth heads on the front of the armchairs and all the chairs have fluted reded front legs and a solid H oak cross stretcher that adds style and support. They are a fantastic set of chairs with one chair we had to replace a part of the skirt on the seat and it came out great. The overall size of the armchairs is 26 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 21 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 21 inches deep, 41 inches high to the chair back, 27 inches high on the arms and 19 inches high to the seat. The size of the side chairs is 19 inches wide, 17 inches deep, 39.5 inches high to the chair back and 19 inches high to the seat. It will be a long time before you find a set of 12 in this quality and style. We show a picture with the chairs around the matching R.J. Horner banquet table but here you are only have the chairs being listed. You are getting all 12 chairs for one money.
