SOLD Antique Horner Armchair, Oak Carved Lion Chair - Horner
This antique Horner armchair s one of the nicest over-carved dainty armchairs in tiger sawn oak we have had the pleasure of owning. Dating from the 1880s, the back has serpents or north wind heads coming off the double crest, a diamond point tail carving down into a massive claw foot base with an oval panel in the center. Even the arm supports are carved. The base has cabriole legs with a great cross stretcher with tapered turn spindles. The feet are ball and claw. The chair is in the original finish. The arms are carved with the knuckles on the ends. If you are looking for Horner furniture – I bet, you don’t have this model! The overall size is 28 inches across the arms, 22 inches wide across the seat, 19 inches deep, 18 inches high to the seat, 30 inches high to the arm and 45 inches high to the back. It has a scooped-out seat. I don’t see anything negative, except that it could use a gluing. It is usable, but it does move a bit. It is a great chair that won’t last long. Shipping starts at $245 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area. Outside the normal area will incur additional delivery charges.
