This antique server is in tiger sawn oak, and is heavily carved with lion’s heads and toenail claw feet. In original condition, this antique oak server dates from the 1890s.
Overall condition is fantastic original, this is a great server in the style of Horner. There was a small chip in the wood that we colored in, so you can’t tell, but we like to mention it.
This server strikes us as the same quality as Horner, but we are not positive it is, so we won’t say that it is. It looks nice enough to be Horner, though. This antique oak server has a large, heavily carved dovetail drawer, a heavily carved backsplash, a bottom shelf that connect the four legs, and of course the gorgeous legs in the front that feature a fierce lion face flowing down into the large toenail clawed feet.
This is a great piece and it is the one that is often missing from people’s dining room sets.
Measuring 46 inches wide, 21 inches deep and 35 1/2 inches high to the top of the case, and add another 9 inches to the top of the backsplash- so 44 1/2 inches tall overall.
People love to use these today as a stand for their flatscreen televisions, but originally this was a dessert server and part of a larger dining room set - it is still in excellent condition, so we’re guessing the original owners didn’t have company all too often.
