

We are pleased to be offing this Fine Carved Mahogany RJ Horner Bookcase to you today. Dating from the late 19th century, and hailing from R.J. Horner & Co., New York, this bookcase features leaf tip carved molding above the frieze profusely carved with scrolling leafy vinery, a lion mask at the center. The case with glass panel full doors with molded edges. The doors are flanked by engaged pilasters, each surmounted by a well carved bust of a nude maiden with bases of figural garlands above acanthus leaf engaged columns ending in claw feet. The apron also carved with leaf tips. The interior is divided in two parts; each side fitted with four mahogany shelves with molded fronts. Case sides are unadorned and the back of the case is paneled. SIZE: 66” h x 57” w x 20-1/2” overall. Size of shelving within the bookcase on the left side, four adjustable shelves; 11” deep x 26-1/2” in length and four adjustable shelves on the right side; 11” deep x 26-1/2” in length. CONDITION: The bookcase has been refinished with dark red-brown mahogany color by the previous owner. Very good to excellent with some minor veneer loss on the bottom of the side panels.
