SOLD Antique Mahogany Server, Carved, Horner Quality
This beautiful mahogany claw foot server dates from the 1890's with a beautiful carved backsplash. It is unbelievable in quality, and is not signed, but it could be Horner given the quality construction and carving. When you open the drawer, this antique server has an individual silverware tray compartment. It has a double shelf on the bottom and a beautiful backsplash with a gorgeous carved crest; the legs are bowed out with applied carvings on the side that terminate in a detail toenail claw foot. A double shelf is quite universal for storage and adds extra stability. The cabinet is in nice original condition, showing minor nicks and dings. The left-hand side of the bottom shelf on the base has a chip in the wood, which we can touch up prior to shipping if you remind us at the time of the sale. It is finished in a reddish-brown mahogany stain finish. The overall size is 48 inches wide, 23 inches deep, 36 inches high to the top of the case and the height to the top of the crest is 48 inches. The two bottom shelves are 7 inches high and 19 inches high from the floor. The drawer is not just curved, but it is serpentine. The drawer is speckled carved in the background so that it has a design against the fleur-de-lis carving and swoops down in a detail handle on both sides. It has a lock, but no key. It has minor nicks and dings. Shipping starts at $295 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area. Outside the normal area will incur additional delivery charges.
