This antique Victorian marble top etagere is a great example of furniture from the civil war era. Constructed of walnut with burl walnut panels flanking both sides of the well-aged mirror, this piece is in great condition for something that is 150+ years old. Dating from the 1870s, this etagere has a beautiful white and gray grained ogee bevel-edge marble top on the shapely base. The base also has additional burl walnut panels and a drawer for additional storage, and has carved hand pulls and a decorated escutcheon in the center.
This piece retains its original silver back mirrors, which definitely show their age from silver loss on some, but in our opinion, it adds insurmountable character to this antique. If you decide you want new replacement mirrors then email us for a quote.
This style of furniture is one of our favorites to sell here at Maine antique furniture. We love true Victorian antiques, especially walnut pieces with marble tops like this one. The crest is stunningly carved with leaves, and is a dual crest on crest. Take a look at the pictures because they can do a much better job of describing this marble top etagere than I can. It's a desirable piece, we hope you love it as much as we do. The shelves on both sides of the large center mirror are held up by pierce-carved shelf supports. The shelves themselves are beveled edge, and overall, this piece is in really nice original condition. It has some staining on the shelves where you can see somebody might’ve had a plant or a vase but the finish has aged to a beautiful patina, and it’s a great example of a really nice original Victorian antique.
Measuring 50 1/2 inches of the widest point, 17 inches at the deepest point, and 93 inches tall. The crest does come apart in two pieces, so if this is your is too tall for your wall space you can remove the top crest.
