This is a beautiful set of antique dining room chairs consisting of six ball and claw foot solid mahogany chairs. Dating back to the 1880s, this set is what you call "assembled", meaning in this instance that two of the chairs are slightly different from the other four. It is pretty difficult to notice the difference; we just happen to have a particularly trained eye for that sort of thing. These chairs feature detailed city Chippendale-style backs that are much better than average. The carved cabriole legs and flared back legs are intricately designed, and there is clamshell carving in the front of the chair skirt. The set is finished with a dark reddish-brown stain.
Each chair measures 21 inches across and 18 inches deep, standing at approximately 42 inches tall with a seat height of 19 inches. Despite being assembled, the chairs blend in perfectly and the two styles are difficult to differentiate. Overall, this set of antique dining room chairs is a stunning example of 19th-century craftsmanship and design.
