SOLD Antique Bench, Antique Gothic Revival Carved Beech & Pine Figural Hall Bench
EXCEPTIONAL GOTHIC REVIVAL CARVED BEECH & PINE FIGURAL HALL BENCH. 19th century, Central Europe. The carved crest of scrolling leaf tips flanked by foliate spray finials above a band of carved vinery over a panel carved in deep relief with Elizabethan attired busts alternating with plumed armor helmets with plumes, military shields and coats of arms. The back is joined to armrests carved with Satyr’s head grips centering a hinged plank seat opening to a storage well. The base is adorned with four winged griffins or gargoyles centering an urn. The bench is on a molded base raised on scrolled feet. SIZE: 52” h x 65” w x 23” d. CONDITION: The bench retains original dark surface with loss of beading to right side, repairs to central crest, general wear throughout within normal parameters.
