SOLD Antique Bed Set, Victorian Carved Walnut Bedroom Suite

This beautiful antique bedroom set dates from the 1870s Victorian era and features marble tops on both the commode and the antique dresser. It came right out of a home here in New England.

Consisting of a full size bed, a marble-top with backsplash commode, and a quintessential Victorian four drawer dresser with mirror, this is a stunning set. The bed and dresser have lovely tall Victorian crests, and the little drawer-pulls are even little carved nuts, leafs and berries, and they’re still all good! Raised burl panels, picture frame molded and hand carved dovetail drawers, race track molding on the bed, vertical panels, which is how you can tell it’s earlier Victorian - it’s just a really nice set.

The bed measures 65 inches at the widest point. The height of the headboard is 84 inches and footboard is 38 inches high. The inside dimensions for mattress purposes are 57 inches x 74.25 inches deep.

The next item is the Victorian marble top commode, double raised panel burl doors, all original, with one of the tallest backsplashes I’ve ever seen with, the candle shelves all intact, ogee bevel edge, stain free, and perfect. I love the quality of the carved berry and leaf pulls. Measuring 32 inches wide, 19 inches deep, and 31 inches high to the top of the marble shelf, and 44 inches tall to the top of the back splash.

Last but not least, is the Victorian dresser. In the photos it looks like this dresser has three drawers, but in fact it actually has four drawers. Below the last external visible drawer, is what they called the secret drawer in the base of some of these old Victorian pieces. The overall size is 42 by 20 by 32 inches to the marble top and the complete overall height to the top of the mirror is 88 inches tall.

It has a swivel glass long frame mirror that’s held together with all original rods, features dainty finials, applied burl panels, and the hand carved crest on top. On this dresser, one of the carved key hole covers was missing so we had it replaced with a reproduction of something very similar. Maintains its ditty boxes and candle stands which everyone loves in these old pieces.
