SOLD Antique Bed Set, Victorian 3 Piece Burl Walnut Bedroom Suite

This antique bedroom set is fantastic. We sell a lot of antique Victorian furniture, but antique bed sets are always one of our favorite things. Of course, a really nice Victorian bed set is a hallmark of any proper Victorian home.

This specific bedroom set has all the true Victorian Renaissance markers: the white marble tops, the little marble candle stands on the commode, the step-down marble top dresser, the carved crests. It has all the Victorian features without being over the top. And the burl walnut accents are to die for. They’re everywhere!

Just a quick glance at the photos will tell you most of what you need to know about this is a better-than-average antique Victorian bed set - it’s gorgeous!

Dating from the 1870s-1880s, this Antique Renaissance bedroom suite consists of an oversized full-size bed frame, a six drawer drop center mirrored dresser, and a three drawer commode. All the marble is white and grey grained, and the set was refinished a long long time ago in a light walnut stain, which really highlights the grains of the burl walnut throughout the entire set. The only missing pieces we see is a small piece of molding on the footboard, and there is a wing on one of the side rails missing. We’re able to fabricate these in our restoration shop if you so desire, just contact us for a quote. Honestly, once a quilt is on the bed, you likely won’t even notice the issue, but the option is there if you want it.

When the set came in, it had one tear drop handle missing - we replaced it with one that looks very similar to the originals. There’s a small chip in the marble right in the center of the 3 drawer commode and one of the candle shelfs on the backsplash has been glued. And other than that, it’s pretty spectacular.

The overall size of the walnut bed is 64 inches wide, height of the footboard is 38 inches wide, height of the headboard is 96 right on the button. The inside dimensions are 76 inches long and 56 inches wide, so it can accommodate a modern day full size box spring mattress. The bed has no slats.

The drop center dresser is 50” wide, 20 inches deep, 96 inches to the top of the crest, 36 inches high to the tallest marble tops, 24 inches high to the center marble top, the candle shelves are intact and there is burl walnut all over, just like on every piece. The white and gray-grained marble top has a bevel edge and is in really nice condition. All the drawers are dovetail of course.

The marble top three drawer commode is 31 inches wide, 17.5 inches deep, to the marble top is 30 inches high, and 41 inches high to the top of the backsplash. One of the candle shelves was cracked and glued-to-repair at one point, it’s still all there, but there’s definitely reglued cracks. There’s the small chip in the marble, but we might be able to fill it—let us know at the time of sale that you would like us to try.
