This pair of Antique French Needlepoint Armchairs are in outstanding condition, and feature their original antique needlepoints. The patterns are complementary, each featuring a floral motif. Both seats feature flowers, and the back of one chair had more flowers, and on the other chair, a nature vignette where a man hands a lady a rose while two lambs look on. Dating from the 1890s to the 1910s in spectacular condition, the needlepoint on both chairs is really a find and is in excellent condition. We sell a lot of antiques an there was a time when coming across something like these wasn't rare, but it's pretty scarce nowadays. These antique needlepoint chairs are in mahogany with a nice medium brown finish, and maintain a beautiful patina that can only come from antiques dating over 100 years old.
These chairs have aged wonderfully! On the backs of the chairs is the original fabric, one remains in really great condition, the other shows some slight staining and minor rips due to the age on the plain cloth back - no big deal in our opinion, these chairs are spectacular, but we like to mention it.
The oval carved back flows nicely into the carved knuckle arms. There is a small nick in the wood in one of the oval backs, but it’s not a big deal. Please remind us of the time of sale and we will detail it out for you. This pair of French needlepoint antique arm chairs measures 25 inches wide across the seat, 22 inches deep and 38 1/2 inches tall. They are 25 inches tall from the floor to the top of the arm, from the floor to the top of the seat is 19 inches tall, and 19 inches across the inside of the arms.
