We are pleased to be offering this Renaissance Revival Marquetry Inlaid Rosewood Coffee Table to you today. Dating from the 3rd quarter 19th century, it is American. The table was originally designed as a center table, as Victorian furniture usually did not feature coffee tables; this is a quality marquetry and ebonized example. The rectangular top with demilune ends features a ribbon tied musical themed trophy group comprised of wind instruments and furled sheet music set within a floral spray on an ebonized ground within satinwood and rosewood bands. All within a gilt metal guilloche border. The ebonized gilt incised apron with pendant finials centering panels with decorations of gilt drapery raised on blocked and reeded legs centering a pierce carved floral panel above a pierced stretcher of geometric lattice work in the manner of Gustave & Christen Herter; known as Herter Brothers Cabinet Makers of New York City. The trestle form ends joined by a baluster turned central stretcher. The base is ebonized with overall gilt incised accents.  SIZE: 44” l x 25” d x 14-1/2” h. CONDITION: The top has been professionally cleaned and polished within the last 25 years. Marquetry is original. Base with original surface. Gold paint decoration has been heightened where needed. Base with normal in use wear commensurate with age. There are two small spots of lacquer wear at the midpoint of the rosewood band on the top. Otherwise very good.  Shipping to the New England states would be $285.00 and outside New England please email with your zip code to receive an accurate quote for your area.
