

This exceptionally fine rosewood and marquetry inlaid credenza dates from the 3rd Quarter 19th century, this piece features a central raised section with gray marble top for display on an incurved inlaid plinth with ebony inlaid bellflower decoration. The rectangular main case with incurved sides, turret corners, and gilt metal border above the cabinet door; the central panel with oval marquetry inlaid floral filled classical urn within a bellflower contrasting wide border trimmed with floral garlands; all on an ebonized ground. The panel further embellished with gilt metal ebony molded surround with crown molding. Flanked by engaged columns with gilt foliate capitals above swelled and turned columns. The incurved side panels each with central marquetry inlaid musical trophies within intricate geometric borders. The credenza mounted on a conforming plinth with gilt metal trim raised on suppressed ball feet. The whole additionally decorated with gold painted incised carving. An extraordinary example exhibiting superior craftmanship.
