SOLD Victorian Walnut Marble Top Commode – Extra Tall Backsplash
We are pleased to be offering today this old original finish burl walnut super tall walnut commode dresser chest with a 12 inch high back backsplash featuring candle shelves. This came out of a New York estate, and is a high end commode. It has burl panels on the hand cut dove tail drawer and doors, and picture frame molding on the sides instead of plain panels. It is a really nice piece with the marble showing some discoloration and a small chip right below the left hand candle shelf where the backsplash joins the bottom. It must have wiggled a bit to cause this, but we will touch it up prior to shipping. The commode is all solid black walnut, features tear drop hardware, cookie corner burl walnut trim, and dark old walnut finish. While the right hand door has a key hole escutcheon missing, all the trim covering the two doors is completely intact. It is in the original, as found condition commode from the late 1870s to early 1880s. The overall size is 32 inches wide, 18 inches deep, 30.5 inches high to the top of the marble and 42 inches high to the top of the backsplash. This hard to find, true Victorian marble top commode is great.
