We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful Victorian black walnut with burl walnut cylinder and pillars and burl walnut applied carved crest cylinder secretary that dates from the 1880's.  It is a beautiful desk in original as found condition.  It hasn’t been polished or cleaned, it just came out of a Western Maine estate.  It comes with the original glass, original finish, original hardware, original crest and the overall condition is outstanding.  The base is a little loose on the supports and could be tightened up.  The top drawer of the base has a little bit of burl walnut veneer that is damaged and we can touch it up prior to shipping.  The escutcheon (round wooden keyhole cover) on the doors on top are missing and the one on the bottom that locks the cylinder in place has a chip, so we can replace them with reproductions prior to shipping if you remind us at the time of the sale.  When you open the cylinder top it exposes a multi-cubby hole interior and a writing surface that had red felt.  This felt is disintegrated as it dates from the 1870's.  We can put red felt back on if the buyer so desires.  If it was polished it would shine well.  The overall size is 42 inches wide, 21 inches deep and 93 inches high.  The height to the writing surface is approximately 30 inches.  The two original glass doors have three adjustable shelves behind.  The round pillars and crest are all intact.  Shipping starts at $365 for a driveway delivery in our normal area.  Please check with us prior to purchase to confirm that you are in our normal area.
