SOLD Victorian Press Back Rolled Arm Office Rocking Chair – Extra Large
We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful old nice finish press back oversize rolled arm rocking chair that dates from the 1890’s to 1900’s. It was purchased right out of a home in Portland, Maine. It is a great looking chair in the old dark brown finish. It shows minor nicks and dings here and there. It is a really tight and sturdy oversize rocking chair. We rarely buy rocking chairs as the quality is not there as they always have to be re-glued, but this chair needs nothing. It has a beautiful press back design, splat back that follows the contours of your back, multi-turn spindles for the arm supports (4 on each arm), steam bent arm, turn spindles on the cross stretchers and the crest beneath the chair sat. The overall size is 22 inches wide across the seat, 25 inches wide across the arm, 20 inches deep, 42 inches high to the back in the natural state, 25 inches high to the arm and 17 inches high to the seat. The lady I bought this from bought this for when her daughter was born to rock her to sleep. I tried to get her to hand it down, but they were downsizing. So it is ready for the next generation.
