SOLD Victorian Oak Roll Top Desk with Raised Panels - Grand Rapids

We are pleased to be offering this beautiful 54 inch raised panel refinished Oak Roll Top Desk to you today. Dating from the 1890s, this roll top desk came out of a house in Kennebunkport, Maine, and has been fully restored and refinished sometime in the last 20 years. We don't really see any nicks and dings on it, which tells us two things - the restoration was done very well, and the gentleman who owned it was very careful how he used it.

This roll top desk has 29 individual raised panels on the cabinet itself (!) plus the drawers are also raised panel! We sell a lot of these, and this one is a beauty! There is a full interior with a door cupboard, multiple drawers, and multiple slots. The little letter holders are on the sides. It comes with the original key. The escutcheon says it was made by the Grand Rapids Desk Company which was well known for their high quality goods.

The gentleman we purchased this from was a doctor and his mother was an antique dealer, so she knew what she was doing when she had it refinished for him as a gift --we can attest that whoever did it, did a fabulous job.  This roll top desk has the pull out writing surfaces, drawers on both side, with the left hand side featuring four drawers and the right side with two drawers with a simulated two drawer file cabinet drawer that is 10 inches high plus two drawers above. It has a center drawer as well. It is 54 inches wide, 36 inches deep, 48 inches high overall and 32 inches high to the writing surface. 

The refinishing job would cost approximately $1200-$1400 alone in today's market. What a bargain! Check our other listings as we are adding some amazing items in the next few weeks.
