SOLD Victorian Hunzinger Rocker with Carved Lion Heads – 1880s
This is a very rare Victorian Hunzinger Rocker, dating from the 1880s, and features a patented spring base mechanism unique to George Hunzinger's designs. In our decades of selling, we've only ever had this style once before—and that was in oak. This one's even rarer.
Crafted in the classic Hunzinger style, it features:
Carved lion heads on the armrests
Hunzinger's patented spring base rocker, offering flexibility and a smooth motion
Tight and sturdy frame in original finish
Original upholstery, which is heavily worn and very dated—but technically useable
If you're a serious collector of Hunzinger or 19th-century American furniture, this is one of those pieces you don’t pass up. It would look amazing reupholstered in period-correct fabric to match its design and value.
