SOLD Victorian Hand Decorated Painted Scenic Bedroom Set

We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful four piece Victorian age pine hand decorated and hand painted scenic bedroom set that dates from the 1880s.  It has a great look.  The set consists of a large bed, a drop center dresser, a lift top commode and a one drawer lamp table.  Every piece is hand decorated or stencil, floral painted scenes and pin stripping on all four pieces.  It has a dark brown base paint that is also grain painted.  The bed has two circular lake scenes with mountains in the background hand painted.  THE most unusual thing is that the crests on the bed and dresser have acorns carved of wood that are 3-4” tall.  We looked all over for a signature on the  painted scenes but did not see any.  The scene on the headboard is 12 inches round and 9 inches round on the foot board.  The overall size of the bed is 57 inches wide, 38 inches high on the foot board and 81 inches high on the head board.  The inside dimensions for mattress purposes is 72 inches long by 53 ½ inches wide which would need to have the rails altered to take a modern day full size mattress.  The size of the drop center dresser is 42 inches wide by 34 inches to the top of the dresser base and 80 inches high to the mirror crest.  The commode that has a bit of a cup to the top lifts up for storage and the two doors open for additional storage.  The commode also has two towel racks made out of walnut on both sides. The commode is 29 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 33 inches high.  The lamp table is 20 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 29 inches high.  The overall condition shows some aggravation here and there on one part of the headboard there is a chunk of wood on the post where the headboard and the side rail connects together and there are numerous nicks and dings here and there.  The overall condition shows signs of wear from being 120 years old.  You are getting all four pieces for one money.  These hand painted decorated bedrooms sets are getting harder to find as the years pass by.  Shipping starts at $485 for a driveway delivery in our normal area.  Please contact us prior to purchase to confirm that you are in our normal area.
