Here’s an opportunity to own a complete set of 12 matching mahogany ball and claw dining chairs. This set includes 10 side chairs and 2 armchairs, dates from the 1920s, and bears the original tag from Geo. C. Flint Co., West 23rd Street, NYC — the historic company that bought out Horner and was known for top-tier craftsmanship and materials.
Each chair is crafted from solid mahogany and finished in the very desirable reddish-brown. The legs feature classic ball and claw feet, and the set still carries a stately elegance nearly 100 years later. Matching sets of 12 are getting increasingly hard to find — especially from a maker of this caliber.
Measurements:
Side Chairs: 22" wide x 22" deep x 40" tall (seat height: 19")
Arm Chairs: 25" wide x 22" deep x 41" tall (seat height: 20")
Condition:
Upholstery is a multi-color striped fabric and appears decent and useable, but we always suggest planning on reupholstery (see note above).
One chair has a damaged claw on the toenail — easily restorable but worth noting.
Overall condition is very nice with sturdy construction and solid joints.
This is an investment-worthy set that would elevate any traditional or formal dining room — ideal for those who appreciate both history and craftsmanship.
A Note on Fabric:
At Maine Antique Furniture, we do our best to describe the fabric on our antiques as accurately as possible. We do not guarantee the condition or longevity of any upholstery and recommend that you plan to reupholster the fabric on any items. If you decide to keep any upholstery, we always recommend having it cleaned before using.
