We are pleased to be offering today this pair of country twin size poster beds that someone has adjusted and fabricated the side rails so that it takes a modern day twin size mattress and box spring. The inside dimensions for mattress purposes are 38.5 inches wide by 75 inches long. The actual size of the bed frame itself is 42 inches wide, 41.5 inches high to the headboard shield, 40 inches high on the headboard post, 40.5 inches tall on the footboard post and 35 inches high to the cross stretcher on the footboard. It is a bolt on bed, which means that the bed rails are bolted in for extra strength and sturdiness. The rails were even colored to the original old finish on the bed. The beds are most likely maple. Originally these were rope beds, where a rope was used as a support for the old mattress. They are a great pair of beds. You get the pair for one money.
